The Virginia House of Delegates 88th District was moved from Tidewater to the Fredericksburg area during the re-districting that followed the 2000 census. Redistricting occurs every 10 years after the national census in order to balance the population of each district.
The current 88th District includes parts of Stafford, Spotsylvania, and Fauquier Counties and the Town of Remington.
The parts of Stafford County included in the district are west of Route 1, except the Garrisonville and Falls Run areas. Stafford precincts included in the district are: Hartwood, Simpson, Rock Hill, Roseville, Ruby, Stefaniga, Griffis, Hampton, and portions of Widewater, Aquia, and Whitson.
The parts of Spotsylvania County included are north of Route 3 and the area south of the Spotsylvania Mall. Spotsylvania precincts in the district are: Elys Ford, Plank Road, Hazel Run, and Grange Hall.
The parts of Fauquier County are southern Fauquier along Route 17 including Bealeton, Summerduck, Goldvien, and Remington. Fauquier precincts in the district are: Lois, Opal, Morrisville, Remington, and Bealeton.
